The Florida Gators could poach a Power Five defensive coordinator for their staff in 2021. According to Taylor Estes of Horns247, Texas defensive coordinator Chris Ash is being considered for Dan Mullen’s Gators staff.

Ash maybe as a possible replacement for Gray?  Coach O still interviewing DC candidates.  Arnett still possible for Sark.

Ed Orgeron wants to take his time with the defensive coordinator hire. Orgeron knows better than anyone that getting this hire right is just about the most important element to an improved LSU roster that was 124th in total defense in 2020.

And lastly, Kevin Steele has been hired by the Vols presumably as Pruitt's replacement.

F' Auburn.  I hope they crash and burn. Never liked them to start with and now really don't like them.  I hope they are Bama's bitch into the next decade.  

 
Rocker's replacement might be Jimmy Lindsey. He's a Cheraw native, and coached with Clayton White at W. Kentucky.

No he’s actually been the DL coach at Georgia State for the last 2 years. Looks like he replaced Lawing. They got BAW there too as a GA. If I were CSB I’d try to bring them over with Wharton if I was trying to bring the culture change full circle. Also I’m glad to her about Rocker leaving, it’s an extra 100k on top of what we already made off of Bobo and friend leaving.

You raise a good point.  Let the new coordinators have a say in their assistants now that they themselves are on board.

Something like this might have been the reason Rocker left us.  Or maybe Rocker really wanted to be DC given the money he was already making.  A bigger paycheck to salve the wounded ego as it were.

 
LSU football’s search for a new defensive coordinator continues.

This past weekend, I mentioned Mississippi State defensive coordinator Zach Arnett as a potential candidate for LSU football‘s vacant defensive coordinator position.

On Tuesday, Arnett met with the Tigers about replacing Bo Pelini.

But according to The Athletic, Arnett is not expected to join LSU’s staff in 2021.

“Zach Arnett met today with LSU about the Tigers defensive coordinator vacancy but he is not expected to become the new DC at LSU,” tweeted Bruce Feldman.

What about Duce if Kitchings hits the road, too?

As news spread about the firing of Eagles coach Doug Pederson on Monday, one candidate quickly gained traction among fans, Eagles players, and ex-players on social media.

Duce Staley.

“Every time he stood in front of the team, he had the attention and respect of everyone in the room,” tweeted former Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, now with New Orleans. Jenkins called Staley “the embodiment of what it means to be an Eagle, in a coach.”

Jenkins added that he is happy with the Saints, who host Tampa Bay on Sunday in the divisional round of the playoffs, but “in another lifetime, I’d love to play for him.”

In an interview Monday, defensive end Brandon Graham wondered if Staley might be Pederson’s successor, and called Staley “a strong voice.”

Former Eagles defensive end Chris Long tweeted that Staley was “a great coach and commands respect.”

Safety Rodney McLeod tweeted that he hoped “they give my man Duce an opportunity. He was a hell of a player in the league, and now a hell of a coach!”

Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie mentioned in his video news conference Monday that he expected Staley to be a candidate.

“He’s a great representative of the Eagles, and knows our values,” Lurie said.

Staley, the team’s 45-year-old running backs coach and assistant head coach, has already been the head coach here, in a way – he stepped in as titular head for a while last training camp, when Pederson was in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19. This proved to be largely ceremonial; Pederson continued to direct operations via Zoom.

“We all want to advance,’' Staley said last August, during his short stint in charge. “You [media] guys want to advance. That’s life. But right now, I’m super happy in my role. Proud of my role. Being assistant head coach, running backs coach. I’m proud of that.”

Duce seems to be all about the Pros like Mike Dunleavy, Sr., but he WOULD be an excellent get.

RB/possible OL coach and associate head coach.

Duce is in the mix for an NFL HC job - he's not coming back here to coach RBs. As a lifelong Eagles fan, I would love for him to get the Eagles job and see what he could do - but coming back here to coach RBs would be like 2-3 steps backward. His first step in coming back here would be a HC at a non P5 job and then maybe here?
